Darbi Plus is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and a thiazide-like diuretic combination product indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure:
- In patients not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
- As initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple drugs to help achieve blood pressure goals.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.
The recommended starting dose of Darbi Plus is 40/12.5 mg taken orally once daily.
Most of the antihypertensive effects is apparent within 1 to 2 weeks. The dosage may be increased to 40/25 mg after 2 to 4 weeks as needed to achieve blood pressure goals.
Darbi Plus doses above 40/25 mg are probably not useful.
Darbi Plus may be administered with other antihypertensive agents as needed.
Darbi Plus may be administered with or without food.
Prior to Dosing:
Correct any volume depletion prior to administration of Darbi Plus, particularly in patients with impaired renal function or those treated with high doses of diuretics.
Patients who experience dose-limiting adverse reactions on chlorthalidone may be switched to Darbi Plus, initially with a lower dose of chlorthalidone.
